Inter Forest Basketball Association All Stars

The last player to round out the squad. Powerful Justin completes this mini series of IFBA players, who each and everyone, take their name and origin from the Brooklyn Sketchbook Project I half completd a handful of years ago. It seems right somehow that this idea is rehashed, and given bigger scale and greater detail (literally, the original sketches were less than a quarter of an A4 page. These works are A3). I am curently working on a title page to give this sub series a little more form. Then I will begin work on the official HMOP: EXPO 2 poster ASAP. Stay tuned.

SasQuatcH - Hard To Find band poster

This. This was a lot of fun. Inspired by he art work from the renowned leather clad and bear chested band 'Man-O-War', I created an new band and emergent sub genre if Metal in 'Sasmetal'. I have an idea for at least one more Sasquatch based artwork that should tie the work in my upcoming exhibition (December 13th, Squid Studio) together somewhat. Stay tuned.

Starting what you finish - Animal Basketball Card Drawings

Finishing a project that after much pondering ended a little more work to push it over the edge to become a finished work. Also in completing these Animal Basketball Card Drawings, I can continue drawing Sasquatches knowing I am finishing what I started in relation to non Sasquatch related artwork. I have two more to complete, which mainly involves adding text to the art work. For any individuals who have been through my blog most of these names for these players are taken directly from earlier works on the same theme. More drawing on the way. Stay tuned.

Theoretical Sasquatch Activity

Some new work, drawn with mt left and right hands. To explain how that all happened would take too long, just know that breaking your 5th metacarpal on your diominant hand gives you some unique opportunities. Also at this time have developed a fascination with the Sasquatch which will become more obvious as I post more drawings related to this enigmatic creature. More drawings and more explanations as to how this all came to be and why I have not posted for so long. Stay tuned

Revisiting Old Work With New Ideas (Continued)

After two failed drawings attempting to render...wait for it, a cyclops - I have some how managed to create a 2nd drawing. My daughter gave me a revelation; 'if you are drawing (something that fantastical / Imaginary) you can draw it how you want' . Bang. So yeah, if I draw an elephant / human basketball player I really can make the characteristics and proportions work for me, I can draw it how I want. I think a reference to the laws of perspective and proportion is necessary, but I have really been too hung up on that in my most recent attempts to get back into drawing. It just took one amazing person (who also came up with the idea for the team name) to point it out.
I drew this picture outdoors and the spectacular natural light allowed me to take a decent photo or two through out the process.

To really stay on this course, I need to go to what I know. I really think it is important to maintain the principal of setting rules for myself when undertaking drawings because this has worked well for me in the past. So...

• These drawings must relate to an animal or an anthropomorphic version there of.
• The individual should be wearing an older style basket ball uniform and related apparel.
• The individual must belong to a team.

It feels good to draw like this again. Lets see how it goes. Stay tuned.

Revisiting old work with new ideas

Several years Ago I contributed a sketchbook to The Sketchbook Project. It was hastily finished with not too much of the book completed. But I liked the work I did in that book, especially the 'All Forest 1981' concept. This was an idea that amalgamated my love of drawing forest animals and penchant old school basketball NBA / ABA uniforns from the 1950's upto the 1990's. I have been looking for a reprieve from the difficulties I have been facing drawing the very involving Lincoln Moon Zombie War, and trying to enjoy drawing again and have fun with it all. This drawing kind of came from that, a need to 'stretch my legs' creatively and remind myself why a drawing is so much fun to create. This gives me a starting point. How many I will do in this series I really don't know. Maybe one more, hopefully at least three or so. I really just want to get back into the swing of it. Stay tuned.

The Lincoln Moon Zombie War - Notes from the future....

I have just started a visual log to chronicle my ideas relating to LMZW, while also creating an 'all in one' progressive reference for the narrative and any future stories. This drawing is an something I have been meaning to put on paper for a while - creating a field / everyday Forefather agency uniform for Lincoln. This field uniform will feature more prominently in a story I am percolating after LMZW is done, but that could be a while. The priority for me at the moment is to complete the LMZW, but it never hurts to make notes for future ideas. I will be posting on the 7th drawing ASAP. Stay tuned.
